TOPEKA, Kan. (May 18, 2017)-- The Tequila Patrón Funny Car team will compete at this weekend’s NHRA Heartland Nationals with fill-in driver Chad Head behind the wheel of Alexis DeJoria’s Toyota Camry.

Head, who was appointed the role of interim driver by DeJoria just prior to the Four-Wide Nationals, will continue to work with co-crew chiefs Nicky Boninfante and Tommy DeLago on building upon the team’s on-track performance in her absence. While a date is still to be determined, DeJoria looks forward to returning to the seat of her Tequila Patrón Toyota Camry soon.

Head and the Kalitta Motorsports Tequila Patrón Toyota Camry Funny Car team begin qualifying for the 29th annual Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals presented by Minties at 4:00 p.m. (CT) on Friday, May 19.

We were one of only two cars to make it down the track in tricky conditions during both sessions today after getting rained out yesterday. We qualified in the top half of the field and have lane choice, which is important here. We hope to make Alexis proud and put this Tequila Patrón Toyota Camry in the Winner's Circle tomorrow.

Note: Chad Head is filling in for Tequila Patrón Funny Car pilot Alexis DeJoria.
